These rules are very much a work in progress, and are likely subject to both change and expansion as this wiki becomes more active.
Code of Conduct
- As Kathy Mar says, “KINDNESS!” Show respect for fellow filkers and contributors.
- Our focus is on the filk community and related topics, not nerdy music in general. We are well aware that the line sometimes is impossible to draw.
- Since this wiki uses the default Fandom license of CC-BY-SA—which allows commercial use—do not post song lyrics here. It would infringe on the rights of the original writer, and if you’re the original writer, best not open that hole.
- We do not accept racist, sexist, ableist, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory behaviour towards disadvantaged groups. At the same time, our history contains such behaviour—intended or unintended—and part of our purpose is to document and remember the filk community, be it good or bad.
- Handle personal data with care and always in accordance with rule #1. The style guide contains additional guidance.
- Links to filk dealers, artist sales pages, and so on are fine in reasonable numbers and in the proper context.
- No spam or destructive editing.
In addition, the Community Central Guidelines are also applicable, unless they conflict with the guidelines above.
Apart from the rules above, we also have a Style guide.
The easiest way to raise concerns about any content or behaviour here is to write on kjnoren's wall, or the wall of the blocking admin. Note that walls are public channels.
Blocks
An administrator have the discretion to give warning about violations against the Code of Conduct, and on their own discretion block a user up to one week for breaks against the Code of Conduct. Blocks longer than one week should be discussed amongst the administrators. The administrators reserve the right to escalate blocks to fandom staff.
Blocks can be appealed to the wall of the blocking admin, either here or on Community Central.
Discussions
The primary place to discuss the wiki itself is currently through the #filkwiki channel in FilkHaven on Discord. Both current wiki administrators are active there, and there is a strong pool of other filkers with knowledge to share as well.
Policy decisions taken on FilkHaven should be documented here.
To become an admin or receive other elevated rights, a user should be known and respected in the wider filk community. For the admin role they should also show regular (e.g. weekly) contributions of good quality to this wiki for at least three months. Applications can be made on kjnoren's wall and can be discussed on FilkHaven.
